![]() ![]() The present tense, omniscient narrative didn't always work for me, and sometimes I felt like yelling, "Get over yourself," when Janie yet again storms away from Cabel, but I'm still intrigued by the possibilities of the set up and eager to try out book 2 - Fade. But when their fledgling romance is disrupted by trust issues, Janie needs to make some decisions about how to manage her complicated life. When she slips into the study hall dreams of her maybe crush, Cabel, she discovers that he has feelings for her, but also a scary secret. How she managed to keep this particular secret is quite a feat since she's paralyzed during these episodes and apparently has some scary seizure activity. She also tries to keep her grades up - all the while keeping a huge secret - she gets sucked into the dreams of anyone sleeping near her. Janie works as many shifts at a nearby nursing home as possible and tries to save as much as she can for college. She's basically raising herself since her single mother keeps herself continually drunk. Seventeen-year-old Janie Hannigan has a lot on her plate. ![]() Unabridged book on 4 cds, narrated by Ellen Grafton. ![]()
